The Paradigm Shift: From Aesthetics to Understanding
My design journey, which began in 2012, was initially driven by a simple passion: creating beautiful websites. Like many early designers, I believed aesthetic polish was the primary measure of success. That perspective was completely transformed when I picked up my first key UX text, "Don’t Make Me Think" by Steve Krug.
This book was a lightning bolt. It revealed the vast science behind design, making it clear that
Usability and UX were the most critical factors. This realization sparked a commitment to critical
analysis that defines my approach today: I moved past the question of what looks good to constantly
asking:
- What works, and why?
- What is truly essential for the user?
